Cough! Cough!...excuse me...

I know this blog is in need of an update - but I know you'd forgive me if you knew how sick I was this weekend - I have the worst cold and cough.

I'll give you a bit of an update on our newbie dorms - we decided to call them Starting Point and they are ready for business! We just need newbies now. We upped the eligibility age so that you can live there if you are less than 90 days old (up from 60).

We'll also be more flexible on needing to have payment information on file. What we are really trying to make sure of is that the people we select to live at Starting Point are people who are trying to learn more about SL and want to contribute to making a positive community - not cause trouble or grief.

We are also in need of some helpers - residents of Starting Point will be in the Starting Point Group and we need some wise, patient and kind older residents to join the group as "Helpers" to answer questions they might have. They might IM the group with questions occasionally and if you volunteered for this role you could help them. This is strictly a volunteer role. I thought about calling them RA's - for Resident Advisors since that is what they will be doing: advising new residents. Plus, I thought it would be cute. What do you think about calling them "Helpers" vs RA's? (Note: the RA's won't live at Starting Point.) Would you be interested in becoming one?

If you want to refer someone to live at Starting Point or you need a residency application for yourself, IM Jerremy Darwin or me. If you would like more information on Starting Point just IM!

The common areas of Starting Point are open to the general SL community. So you can tour and visit the area to have a look around.

  2. I would be glad to be a helper! I'm not that much of a pro in SL yet but I would be pleased to share what I know :)

By the way Thym do you want me to make a small announcement on Baking Cupcakes. Maybe some of our readers are less than 90 days old.

  4. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping with Kira last night. I couldn't just walk away from her, and she soooo did not want to be left behind.

I knew what you meant by RA; I was one in college! And yes, I would be glad to.

  9. It is great to be getting so much positive feedback on all this. Currently we are set up to house 10 people. Depending on how things go managing that many people we may add on. We could eventually even have an on site Resident Advisor. However, we will have to weigh adding a room for them or more rooms for the residents. I am sure we can always use more helpers! I have sent invitations to all who have offered here in these comments. It should be an easy job. If you are online when a question comes in, and you have the time, try to answer it. However, I do not intend for the group to be the residents only source of help. We are giving them landmarks and group names to some of the many other organizations out there - NCI, Shelter etc. BTW if you have any recommendations for a group like this, let me know and I might add it. Stop by the dorms to see what is currently displayed (they are in hallways). Thanks again everyone.

  10. Hey Tym and Jeremy, I'm happy to be a RA, does that mean I can cruise the coed dorms and make sure girls and guys stay on their floors after hours? (Is really just kidding.) 4 years in world, 2 running a business and 3 building, I probably can help. Ping me in world
