This is My Happy Place

Some of you may wonder why I rarely write about the latest controversies – i.e., the new Open Space sim pricing policies, the Freebie Culture, dolphin safe tuna, etc. Well, I’ll tell you what…..Second Life and this blog are my respite from the stresses of Real Life and I do not want to think about stressful things while I am here.

This is my happy place. I wish to keep it as fun as possible. Some people may call that selfish, but I do not care (and that, my friends, is as controversial as I will ever get on this blog).

Since by nature I like to keep things light, if I attempted to write about something contentious, I would have to try very hard not to write a limerick or something equally amusing (at least to myself) about it. For example, it was impossible to not write these:

Some people bought Open Space Sims

Thinking they’d live there with prims.

But the land must be devoid

Or Lindens get annoyed

And they’ll increase the price at mere whims.

Or even:

People like to acquire things for free,

Like hair or a dress or a tree.

Freebies are nice things to get,

But some people think they’re a threat.

What will happen to our economy?

Do you see how inappropriate I can be sometimes? These are serious topics.

We are all just lucky that I could not figure out how to make those into dirty limericks.

  1. :) Love the limericks! Sometimes we all need to find that happy place. This was the first blog I read today and I am glad I did. It put me in a good mood. Thank you.

  3. I don't think it's selfish to create a special place for yourself devoid of all the RL drama that invades our life. I work in a fairly stressful job and deal with ppl the community shun so I try to make SL a special place too where I can have fun, laugh and do things not possible in RL. Like the name Fricker Fraker cracks me up :-)))))) Sorry Fricker...I mean than in a good way. So enjoy your 'happy place'. I think SL is healthy and therapeutic if used this way.

  4. lol LOVE the limericks. If you posted about serious stuff I probably woudln't read. But I love how your blog is very lighthearted and sweet.

Besides, I don't need to write about the openspace price increase which is costing me 500USD a month more.. lol im living it.

  5. It's because of people like you that SL is so messed up! You and the other masses of blissfully ignorant sheep just continue to take anything the Linden dole out and never complain. Afraid to hear your own voice! STAND UP and be heard!! I applaud all those in SL and Plurk that go above and beyond to state their opinion on anything and everything. However, why I am sure that changing the default texture, setting the official look of being Ruth'ed, proper TP particles and sounds, lack of public toilets in SL and trying to make Pink the new Grey are very vital issues that we all toss and turn about.....we are overlooking perhaps THE most important issue of our time!

Of course I am talking about the Cosmic Karma Eating Goat that lurks in Plurk. Many a poor soul has valiantly striven to build up their Plurk Karma through the day...only to find it decimated in the morning!! The culprit...The Karma Goat!! Please be careful out there people. Guard your Karma well.

    .......

Honey, I loved your last blog as I love them all (except that one on the second Tuesday from last May..or was that November). I love your humor and whit and your limericks were a joy to read :-) It is good to have you back blogging more frequently! I also love that SL is your Happy Place. For it is with me too. I enjoy each and everyday we have together. RL melts away and leaves us with our Absolutely Wonderful Slife together :-) I particularly like laying in the hammock talking about whatever crosses out minds. So this weekend should we talk about Andorra independence, discuss aquatic verse crop based bio-fuel mass or just debate Nietzsche again?

  6. LOL!! The only way this blog post would have been better [for me, anyway] is if you had thrown in a couple of haikus. :)

But I agree. I come to SL to escape RL stresses. I don't really need to create more around me. :)
