Skew You

OMG…guess what I just realized.

Fellow bloggers, I am sooooo screwing up your blog statistics. And, it isn’t on purpose. I swear. This mostly applies if you have a good blog roll.

For those who don’t know, most bloggers use some sort of program to count visitors to their blogs. Most of these programs will also tell you the average length of time someone visits your site.

Here is my issue. You see, my blog roll is already very, very long, but I love reading blogs. So, I go to your web site and prowl through yours to find blogs I do not have on mine. Heck – I count on you having certain blogs listed so that I can read them regularly. Then I “park” on your page (after having read your latest blog post, of course) and spend time reading though others’ blogs. So if it looks like the time of the average visit to your blog has gone up a ton…omg that is probably me! EEEEEK!

I really should just bite the bullet and add people to my blog roll. But that does not solve the problem of how I will find new blogs. And it would mean an insanely long blog roll. Blog roll management is a big issue for me apparently…sigh.

So to conclude, I am really not that slow of a reader and I am so sorry! I didn’t mean to skew you!

Hey, I'm going to make a less than 30 day pack available at my store and was wondering if you could toss me a notecard/LM and other stuff to your starting point dormitory so I can include that (ONLY if you want). If so- thanks!!! if not, thank you as well :)

Of all the things screwed up about me, my blog statistics are the least of my concerns.

Oh I just love to park on people blogs! Sometimes I leave myself logged onto one over the weekend ;-) Actually, this was never an issues I have thought about (being the un-blogger I am). How much do all you bloggers look at your stats anyway?

LOL - ahh Tymm.. I have a couple of blogs I log into and *never* leave due to their blogrolls. The tab just sits open, and a few times a day I just hit refresh, and go on reading the blogs linked from there.

I'm notoriously bad.. at the moment I have 10 tabs open that I almost never close. Not all blogs, but various things of interest LOL.

I promise I'm not stalking those of you whose blogs my tabs live on. Or am I and this is just my cover story? *evil grin*

Have you tried using an RSS reader (Google Reader, for example), or one of the other aggregators such as Netvibes? That way you could have all your blogs on one page to read, and still nagivate to them whenever you felt like looking for new ones to read.

In answer to Jerremy's question... I almost never look at my blog stats. That's because I've blogged since mid-2002 (RL blog) and I went through an obsessive phase, but now I've gotten tired of looking at them lol :P

Jerremy - Honey, I am a stats addict.

Nikki - YAY! I am not alone!

Mar - I am far too lazy to do something as sensible as that. :-P

Quaintly - I am still obsessed!

I have everyone that I read every day bookmarked and open all of the tabs in that folder then read through them. I look at blog rolls and if there is a post I want to check out, I'll leave the original tab open and read my other regulars, then come back. So yes, I screw them up too.

I look at my stats, but only locations and numbers. My timer doesn't work and never did. It usually as 0 seconds for length even when I know someone read the whole thing and commented! So I ignore it.

Cas - I am glad I am not alone. Hey I noticed that 0 seconds thing in my stats...maybe mine are not being picked up right either.

Hey! No one has commented on my super cool "I <3 Reading Blogs" t-shirt that I made my very own self. :-P
