Shall we play a game?

Did you get the classic 80's reference in the title?

I *thought* I would have trouble thinking of something for this week's Thursday Happy post...until I realized that it has been under my nose all of this time!
My Thursday Happy is...games within the game!!

The first game within the game that I got involved in was Primtionary - an in-world version of Pictionary in which you build clues for the audience to guess. When I was first introduced to this, I was just learning to build and torture prims and it was so much fun and great practice. Primtionary is a great date activity, IMHO.

Just this past week, Jerremy and I have played two other games - an alien hunt at the SL birthday celebration and we visited the Giant Climbable Beanstalk!!

If you are not aware, the Giant Climbable Beanstalk is the first resident created content in Second Life and it is still around. It is a game in which you have to hop and jump from leaf to leaf in an attempt to reach the top. No flying allowed! Jerremy and I spent the evening trying to summit the fairy tale fungus. We had a blast! And we got to nurse each other's injuries afterward. There is actually a prize for reaching the top - you can click on the sign that is in the picture above to get a note card with details. (Many thanks to Noelyci Ingmann who told me that the beanstalk was still around!) Jerremy managed to get as high as we could tell you could get. I only got up to about 45 meters - but I think I would have done better if I could figure out how to use my arrow keys to move (I use my mouse to move.) The beanstalk is a great date activity, too - but only if a) you do not care to talk to your date or b) you are using voice.

Now, I have to tell you what else I did this week. I tried to take a picture by a volcano.

Does this volcano make my butt look big?

This activity could be a game also, I suppose - a game I'd call "Racing Death." You see, the volcano I visited is on a damage enabled sim. While I was perched at the edge trying to get a photo, I would watch as my health dropped lower and lower. Then, just as it got to single digits, I would panic and scramble to teleport somewhere else before I went toward the light.
Note that this would not make a good date activity.

  1. Title reference:

Strange Game. The only winning move is not to play.

  3. I remember you taking me to my first Primtionary game! That was so fun. I had to leave the group ages ago so I never know when a game is being played, but I really would love to go to another one. I'm out of practice with building! LOL

  4. OH! I remember that too, Alicia! I remember being so impressed that you were not afraid to get on stage and try a *gasp* medium level build instead of an easy one!
