Fun fact: Sometimes I just give up trying to set up a decent picture. In my mind, this one was going to be adorable. But, I didn't count on the spotlight moving around so much. (That is a flashlight in my mouth. Just in case you can't tell.)
In this photo, I am trying to illustrate the mini-solar systems of facelights I see people using. To me, you look so gorgeous without them. With them, when I look at you I assume that your head has caught fire.
Facelights are not necessary anymore. I do understand - I used to be a facelight addict. Even after Windlight came along, I was a bit petrified of using special presets (I am so not a technical person). But, I stumbled upon this quick lesson and adapted it for my needs.
The very basic setting I made is the one I use nearly all of the time including for almost all of my pictures. (But, of course I don't take fancy pics.) Many of you have your own favorite settings, but I'll share mine anyway, especially for people who might be new to SL:

(NOTE: I have no idea how to do this in 2.0 - I am still using the regular viewer.)
- Go to WORLD > ENVIRONMENT SETTINGS > ENVIRONMENT EDITOR > Advanced Sky
- Set sun/moon position to zero.
- Set Ambient (all colors) to .51
- Set Gamma to 1. (You can fiddle with this to make things brighter or darker if you want.)
There. Remember - you are quite stunning on my PC. You're welcome!
